Czechs beat Estonia 6:2 in opening qualification game for World Cup
The Czech national football team beat Estonia 6:2 on Wednesday evening. The match was the first game in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Playing at home, the Estonians initially went into the lead in the 12 minute after a goal by Rauno Sappinen. The Czechs managed to turn the game quickly with two goals by Tomáš Souček and single strikes from Patrik Schick and Antonín Barák before the onset of half-time. Shortly after the beginning of the second-half, Tomáš Souček scored another goal, marking his first hattrick for the national side. Jakub Jankto extended the lead to 6:1 in 56 minute before Estonia’s substitute, Henri Anier, scored a goal to make the final result 6:2.
The Czech team is set to face Belgium in Prague on Saturday, after which Jaroslav Šilhavý’s team will travel to Wales next week.
