Czechoslovak scientist, Holocaust survivor Tomáš Radil dies at age 90

Tomáš Radil, a scientist, university professor and Holocaust survivor, died on Monday at the age of 90, his daughter Karolína Hoňková Radilová announced.

Radil grew up in southern Slovakia and was deported along with his family to the Auschwitz extermination camp in June 1944. He wrote several books about the Holocaust and his personal experiences.

In 1955 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Prague, specializing in neurophysiology. From 1960 until his retirement, he worked at the former Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, in the Department of Physiology.
