Czechia registers first patient who died after contracting monkeypox

Czechia registered its first case of a death of a patient who was infected with monkeypox, reported on Wednesday. Health Ministry spokesman Ondřej Jakob has since told the Czech News Agency that the patient died of pneumonia and that he also suffered from other diseases, such as HIV.

The first case of monkeypox was registered in Czechia at the end of May. Since then, the state health administration has detected 66 cases of the viral infection.
