Czechia likely to lift border controls over foot-and-mouth risk

Czechia is expected to end mandatory truck checks and disinfection at the Slovak border on Thursday, Agriculture Minister Marek Výborný has announced. The measures were introduced due to foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in Hungary and Slovakia.

If no new cases appear, updated rules will lift border controls, though some restrictions for Czech farmers may remain. Final details will be announced Thursday.

The last outbreak was confirmed in Hungary on April 17 and in Slovakia on April 4. Czechia has been gradually easing related import bans since late April.
