Czechia has close to 10,000 new Covid cases a day

Laboratories in the Czech Republic registered 9,253 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday, roughly 1,660 more than on the same day last week. The number of people hospitalized with Covid is now over 3,100 with 440 of them in intensive care.

According to Health Ministry data the Czech Republic presently has on average 514 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the space of seven days. The number of people dying with Covid has also risen to between 30 and 50 each day.

The government is to meet on Wednesday to debate further tightening the measures in place.
