Czechia facing shortage of social care workers

Czechia is facing a shortage of workers in social care. According to the Association of Social Services Providers, around 55,000 additional workers will be needed over the next ten years. There are currently about 34,000, which is already insufficient.

The Labour and Social Affairs Ministry says digitalisation and recruiting foreign care workers could help address the shortage.

The number of seniors in residential care is expected to rise significantly in the coming years, from the current 92,000 to around 135,000.

The greatest demand is expected to be for specialised residential facilities, including those for people with mental health conditions or dementia.
