Czechia to end truck checks for foot-and-mouth disease

Czechia will end truck inspections and disinfection procedures at the Slovak border as of midnight between Thursday and Friday, Agriculture Minister Marek Výborný announced. The measures were introduced to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, after it appeared in Slovakia and Hungary in March.

Milk and wild game testing will continue, along with on-farm biosecurity measures. Police and veterinary officials will also carry out random checks on trucks over 3.5 tons within the country.

Access to livestock farms remains restricted for people who have recently been in affected areas, and farms must still log all visitors and vehicles. Foreign trucks must continue to provide proof of disinfection.
