Czechia to buy 50,000 packs of Pfizer’s paxlovid Covid-19 medication

The Czech Republic will purchase 50,000 packs of Pfizer’s novel COVID-19 oral antiviral medication paxlovid, Health Minister Vlastimil Válek announced on Friday.

The country is expected to receive its first paxlovid delivery within 30 days of the agreement being officially signed. A quarter of the total order is expected to be delivered by the end of March, the Czech News Agency reports.

The order is lower than the originally planned 100,000 packs.

Aside from paxlovid, the Czech Republic already has another anti-Covid drug - molnupiravir, which was developed by the American pharmaceutical company Merck. More molnupiravir purchases are planned.
