Czech weather service issues high-level storm warning

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has upgraded its thunderstorm warning for southeastern and eastern Czechia to the highest level.

Storms could bring wind gusts of up to 90 km/h, hail larger than two centimetres and torrential rain, with possible disruptions to transport, energy supplies and agriculture, as well as a risk of flash flooding.

The warning is in effect from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Zlín Region, most of the South Moravian and Moravian-Silesian regions, parts of the Vysočina and Olomouc regions, and the Dačice area in southern Bohemia.
