Czech Team stunned by Faroe Islands in World Cup Qualifier

The Czech national football team suffered an unexpected 1–2 defeat to the Faroe Islands in the penultimate match of their World Cup qualifying campaign. It was the second loss for Ivan Hašek’s side in the group, leaving them still uncertain of securing second place in the standings. The Faroese now trail the Czechs by just one point in third.

It was the Czechs’ first-ever defeat against the Faroe Islands after ten straight wins in their previous encounters, and they failed to build on Thursday’s goalless draw at home against group leaders Croatia. The team will conclude their qualifying group in November against Gibraltar.
