Czech students take part in parabolic flight as part of Czech Journey to Space mission
Twenty-six pupils and students participated in a parabolic flight on Saturday, experiencing weightlessness aboard an Airbus A310. President Petr Pavel escorted them to the aircraft and also toured the plane. The crew was led by astronaut-in-training Aleš Svoboda, alongside other notable figures. The flight was part of the national project Czech Journey to Space.
Departing from Václav Havel Airport, the aircraft performed parabolic maneuvers during its two-hour journey, creating brief periods of weightlessness, similar to those astronauts encounter in space.
The 26 finalists were selected from 861 applicants after a tough selection process. They completed various tests, including a "survival camp" to assess fitness, teamwork, and mental resilience.
The mission also included prominent figures such as young scientist Simon Klinga, actress Jana Plodková, YouTuber Martin Mikyska, Czech TV host Daniel Stach, and YouTuber Karel Kovář.
