Czech, Slovak PMs say EU, NATO unity essential for Ukraine defence

The Czech and Slovak prime ministers, Petr Fiala and Eduard Heger, said in a joint statement on Monday that maintaining the unity of the EU and NATO was essential for reinforcing the defence of Ukraine, deterring the Russian aggressor and achieving a just and sustainable peace.

The comments were published after a joint meeting of their two countries’ cabinets in the Slovak city of Trenčín.

The two leaders also backed the continuation of various forms of support to Ukraine.
