Czech serving in Russian army previously convicted of crime
A 50-year-old Czech man who joined the Russian army and is now seeking help from Czech authorities is a convicted criminal. A warrant has been issued for the man to be taken to prison, the Czech police reported on the X network on Monday.
In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, which continues to defend itself against its neighbour's military aggression. A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry announced in May this year that Czech diplomacy is investigating the case of a man who recently joined the Russian army. "While checking the information, we found that this 50-year-old Czech citizen is a convicted criminal," the police stated. The warrant for the man to be taken to prison was issued by the Zlín branch of the Regional Court in Brno.
