Czech scientists: body retains Covid immunity memory for at least 6 months

Czech scientists have conducted a study that indicates that people who have undergone Covid-19 develop a relatively high degree of immunity to the virus for at least six months after undergoing the disease.

Scientists from the Center for Cell and Tissue Engineering at the University Hospital at St. Ann's and from Masaryk University this week completed the first phase of a clinical study in which they tested the T-cell immunity memory of patients who underwent Covid-19 at the start of the pandemic.

According to the head of research Irena Koutná, patients still retain a large number of memory cells half a year after recovery, which would affect the course of the disease in the event of further infection.

This does not necessarily mean that they would not contract the disease for a second time, but that their body would deal with the virus quickly the next time it encountered it.

The study was launched in May on roughly one hundred volunteers.
