Czech scientist discovers new comet

Czech robotic telescope operator Martin Mašek from the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences has discovered a new comet, in what is the first such achievement by a Czech in almost a quarter of a century. The comet has been given the preliminary designation MAS0019. The previous comet discovered by a Czech scientist was in the year 2000 at the Klet Observatory. This is the sixth comet discovered by a Czech or Czechoslovak astronomer in almost 50 years.
