Czech S.A.W.E.R. device wins Innovation Prize at Dubai Expo

The S.A.W.E.R. technology developed in the Czech Republic, which uses solar energy to extract water from hot desert air, has been awarded the Innovation Prize at the World Expo in Dubai.

The news was announced on Wednesday by the head of the Czech pavilion, Jiří František Potužník. The award ceremony was held just before the end of Expo 2020, which closes its doors on Thursday.

The device, called S.A.W.E.R. or Solar Air Water Earth Resource, was developed by experts from the Czech Technical University and uses two systems for extracting water out of the desert air and for cultivating the desert into fertile land.
