Czech Republic submits official application for the post of OECD head

The Czech Republic has submitted an official application on behalf of the President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce Vladimír Dlouhý for the position of the head of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

According to Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček, Czech diplomats are intensively lobbying in his support.

Mr. Dlouhý, an economist, served as minister of industry and trade for five years in the 1990s. The current head of the OECD is due to step down next year.
