Czech Republic formally confirms EU-Britain agreement
The Czech Republic on Tuesday formally confirmed its backing of an agreement between the European Union and Britain, which regulates, among other things, future trade relations, Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček told the news agency ČTK.
Mr Petříček later said that all EU member states had already agreed to the convention, unanimously endorsed by member states’ ambassadors on Monday, in writing. The British Parliament is set to approve the agreement on Wednesday.
According to Foreign Ministry estimates, over 100,000 Czechs are now living in the United Kingdom and those who plan to stay have just over six months to register for “settled status” in order to be allowed to remain resident there post-Brexit.
