Czech record broken at Great Balloon Fiesta in Hradec Králové as 81 balloons soar to the skies
The Great Balloon Fiesta in Hradec Králové has set a new Czech record in the number of ballons taking to the skies simultanously. The event has attraced many foreign crews.
Hot-air balloons have been filling the skies over Hradec Králové and its wider surroundings these days. On the very first day of the balloon fiesta - on Wednesday - a Czech record was broken as 81 balloons rose to the skies at once above the city. The balloons drifted over the area of Nové Město nad Metují, Česká Skalice, and Ratibořice. Roughly a third of the crews came from abroad.
“We have around 25 to 30 foreign participants. The largest group is from Hungary, followed by Romanians, Croatians, Lithuanians, Germans, Austrians, and the Dutch,” event co-organizer Jiří Hembal told Czech Radio.
The Great Balloon Fiesta in Hradec Králové will continue over the city until Sunday, with possible changes in flights linked to weather conditions.
