Czech Railways will not return billions to state for transfer of assets, Prague Municipal Court rules
Czech Railways will not have to return seven billion crowns to the state, which they received in 2008 for the transfer of part of their assets (worth almost twelve billion crowns) to the then Railway Infrastructure Administration, now the Railway Administration, the Municipal Court in Prague ruled today. The decision is final. The case was returned to the Prague Municipal Court based on a successful appeal by private carriers RegioJet and Student Agency, who claimed that it involved illegal state support and unfair competition.
The Municipal Court dismissed the lawsuit, explaining that the elements of state support were not met. According to the judge of the Municipal Court in Prague, Jana Přibylová, the court does not have the authority to decide on state support.
