Czech Railways planning to buy up to 90 high-speed train cars

The national carrier Czech Railways plans to purchase up to 90 new train cars capable of speeds of 230 kilometers per hour, with an estimated value of around 8 billion Czech crowns, the Czech News Agency reported. The cars are intended for use both domestically and abroad.

The public tender covers up to 90 cars, which can be combined into individual trains. ČD has committed to ordering at least 27 cars, with additional units to be purchased depending on offered terms and current needs. The railway operator is seeking both first- and second-class cars.  The deadline for submissions is October 21. The contract represents ČD’s largest new-car purchase since 2021, when it acquired the ComfortJet fleet.
