Czech Radio launches oldies station
At the beginning of October Czech Radio launched a new oldies station playing hits from the 1950s to the 1970s. The channel’s name is Pohoda, which translates as ease or good times.
The aim of the station is to foster a feeling of certainty, safety and nostalgia, those behind it say.
A poll of the most popular songs of yesteryear was conducted in 2018 in connection with the centenary of Czechoslovakia and the country’s favourite hits included songs by Waldemar Matuška, Karel Gott and Jiří Suchý.
