Czech Radio: Intelligence services losing high-ranking officers

Both civilian secret services, the counterintelligence and foreign intelligence, are losing important, high-ranking officers, Czech Radio’s flagship news channel Radiozurnal reported on Sunday.

According to Radiožurnál, the long-time head of the analytical department of the BIS counterintelligence, Jiří Rom, is leaving the service.

Likewise, the current head of operations is leaving the foreign intelligence service, Radiožurnál says adding that several sources from the highest levels of the security community had confirmed the information.

Last year, the head of the BIS wiretapping department also left the service at his own request, Radiožurnál says.

Both intelligence services have declined to comment.
