Czech prosecutor takes over leadership of OLAF
Czech public prosecutor Petr Klement officially assumed leadership of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) on February 1 and will begin running the Brussels-based institution on Monday. It is not yet clear who will replace the 51-year-old Klement as the Czech European prosecutor at the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Luxembourg. According to the Czech News Agency (ČTK), the post will likely be filled by Pavel Zeman, former Czech chief public prosecutor. OLAF investigates fraud, corruption and other crimes linked to EU spending. It does not have prosecutorial powers but issues recommendations.
