Czech President Zeman and Emir of Qatar sign agreement on economic cooperation
Czech President Miloš Zeman and the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, signed an agreement on economic cooperation at a meeting at Prague Castle on Wednesday. They are also due to approve an agreement on investment protection.
Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, the Czech head of state said that non-European states should warn Russia that the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine would be followed not only by a diplomatic, but also by a military response.
The emir, who was received with military honours, said Qatar would open an embassy in Czechia within the next few months. Later on Wednesday, he is due to meet with Prime Minister Petr Fiala at his official residence.
Tamin bin Hamad will remain in the Czech capital on Thursday, when the city hosts an informal summit of European countries.
