Czech pop musicians launch a concert to help the tsunami survivors
In order to help Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia as well as the other countries affected by the tsunami disaster, a number of Czech pop musicians took part in a benefit concert on Sunday. The leading star and co-organizer was a young Czech pop-star Aneta Langerova.
The former Czech president Vaclav Havel with his wife also attended the concert, accompanied by their friend American rock musician Lou Reed. Here is what Mr. Havel had to say.
"We came to this concert because we wanted to show our friend Lour Reed that young people have a sense of solidarity and are able to get enthusiastic over a good thing."
The concert that took place in Prague's Lucerna Palace has managed to raise almost three million Crowns (100 thousand Euros). Another 1.5 million Crowns were collected through popular mobile phone text messages which were sent by viewers who watched the concert in a TV broadcast.
