Czech politicians pay homage to legendary Polish director Andrzej Wajda

Czech politicians have paid homage to the great Polish film director Andrzej Wajda who died on Sunday at the age of 90. A legend of Polish and world cinema, Mr Wajda’s films included early masterpieces like Ashes and Diamonds (1959) and later works such as Katyn (2007). Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka paid homage to the director in a tweet, while former dissident and former deputy Senate chairman Petr Pithart said that Mr Wajda had influenced him personally influencing his view of Poland and Polish history. Czech Culture Minister Daniel Herman called Mr Wajda “a legend”.
