Czech and Polish Transport Ministers have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the connection of the Czech D47 motorway with Polish A1. Poland is to build the 50-km part of the A1 motorway to the Czech border by 2008. The Czech side wants to complete the more than 80-km D47 from Lipnik nad Becvou to the Polish border by 2009. The Czech motorway is to be built under the Build-Operate-Transfer scheme by a private investor - the Israeli company Housing&Construction which the government selected without holding a public tender.

The Polish A1 and Czech D47 motorways will be linked to the European motorway network, connecting Scandinavia, central Europe, and Italy.
