Czech police arrest group accused of smuggling thousands of migrants

The Czech police have arrested 14 people who are part of an international organised criminal group accused of organising and facilitating large-scale illegal migration from Turkey to Czechia and other EU countries. One of the 14 accused is a Czech citizen.

The group is supposed to have helped at least a thousand migrants illegally get to Europe and in the process have collected an estimated one million euros in fees from migrants. The police seized approximately CZK 900,000 in cash and two cars. The detainees face up to 16 years in prison.
