Czech PM warns against another “Munich Agreement” to stop war in Ukraine

Any conditions for a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine must be accepted by Kyiv, otherwise it would mean another “Munich Agreement", Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said in an interview for  Bloomberg published on Tuesday. The Czech head of government warned against the policy of appeasement, saying it could have dire consequences not just for Ukraine, but for the whole of Europe. Forcing Ukraine to give up territory will only further encourage President Putin's war machine, the Czech prime minister said, noting that his own country’s bitter experience both with the Nazi occupation in 1939 and the 1968 Soviet-led invasion was ample proof of the fact that appeasement always benefits the aggressor.
