Czech PM: Boosting security will require strong economy and energy infrastructure
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala who is attending the European Political Community summit in Tirana, has stressed the importance of economic prosperity and a resilient energy infrastructure for Europe’s security. In the statement made ahead of the summit, Mr. Fiala was referring to the French energy company EDF’s efforts to challenge the outcome of the Czech tender for the expansion of the Dukovany nuclear power plant, which threaten to stall the project and increase its cost. He said the completion of the project is vital to the country’s energy infrastructure and economy, adding that he wants to discuss the Czech government's position on the matter with European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen.
