Czech PM: Austrian Chancellor to support expansion of TAL pipeline

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer is ready to support the expansion of the capacity of the TAL pipeline, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Tuesday, adding that this would ensure the Czech Republic would have sufficient capacity in case it cannot use oil from Russia.

Speaking at a joint press conference after their meeting in Prague on Tuesday, the Czech and Austrian politicians also said the upcoming Czech EU Council presidency should focus, among other things, on the Western Balkans and its integration in the EU.

Mr Fiala said that progress in the Western Balkans countries’ EU integration was in the interest of both Czechia and Austria.
