Czech PM and opposition leader in accord over foreign policy line

President Petr Pavel met with Prime Minister Petr Fiala and the leader of the strongest opposition party in Parliament, Andrej Babiš, on Friday for consultations on the country’s foreign policy. The main points on their agenda were the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius and the terms of the defence agreement that Czechia recently signed with the United States. Prime Minister Fiala said after the meeting that it had been a constructive dialogue with no significant points of contention. ANO party leader Andrej Babiš likewise expressed satisfaction with the meeting saying he backed the present government’s foreign policy line.
