Czech Philharmonic performs its second concert at Carnegie Hall during Czech Week

The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Principal Conductor Semyon Byčkov, held its second concert at Carnegie Hall as part of Czech Week in New York, a key event in the Year of Czech Music celebrations. The program featured Antonín Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor, with soloist Gil Shaham, and Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. The concert concluded with a standing ovation in the 2,800-seat hall.

Earlier in the day, the Prague Philharmonic Choir performed carols and spirituals in Times Square, drawing crowds to the red steps at Broadway and 42nd Street. The choir will rejoin the Czech Philharmonic for a performance of Janáček's Glagolitic Mass at Carnegie Hall and present an a cappella concert there on December 6.
