Czech Permanent Representation to EU to employ more than 250 people during Czech presidency
During the Czech EU presidency, which is scheduled for the second half of 2022, the country’s Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels will employ more than 250 people, according to the head of the Office of Government Tünde Bartha. The announcement was made on the website of the Office of Government in reaction to a statement by incoming government coalition foreign minister nominee Jan Lipavský, who said that the country has not sufficiently prepared for its EU presidency in terms of personnel.
According to Ms Tünde Bartha, the Czech Permanent Representation to the EU normally employs up to 110 people. The government has approved a capacity increase of 69 employees with plans for a further 65 experts and interns to join the office next year, she said. The Czech government has also increased its EU presidency budget by CZK 200 million to a total of CZK 1.4 billion.
