Czech national census to proceed from March-May as planned
The national census will take place as planned from March 27 to May 11, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Central Crisis Staff has confirmed, citing an assessment by the Ministry of Health that it can be done safely.
Central Crisis Staff head Jan Hamáček had spoken of a six-month delay in carrying out the census, which is conducted every 10 years. One of the novelties of the next one is that people will answer fewer questions, as statisticians will obtain partial data from various registers.
The online part of the census was due to last 14 days, after which as many as 11,000 surveyors would visit households that have not completed the compulsory questionnaire in person over a 24-day period.
