Czech leaders and pilgrims attended Pope Francis's funeral in Rome

Prime Minister Petr Fiala, along with Cardinal Dominik Duka, Bishop Zdeněk Wasserbauer, Archbishop Josef Nuzík, and Bishop Jan Vokál, attended the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome on Saturday, joining other world leaders and church officials in paying their final respects.

Also in attendance were Czech pilgrims who had arrived in Rome for events marking the Catholic Jubilee Year, including a group of around 50 young Catholics led by Father Jan Pavlíček from the Brno Diocese.

More than 250,000 people gathered in St. Peter’s Square and the surrounding area to say farewell to the Pope, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88. The public funeral was attended by 220 cardinals and state delegations from approximately 150 countries, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
