Czech hockey legend Jaromír Jágr’s face to be depicted on special banknote
Coinmaker České dukáty and the State Printing Works of Securities announced at a press conference on Monday that the face of Jaromír Jágr will be featured on a special banknote to be printed on the occasion of the Czech ice hockey player’s 50th birthday.
The banknote, with a symbolic 50 placed on the value marking, will feature a portrait of Jágr wearing a hockey helmet bearing his signature kit number 68. The reverse side will depict the celebrations that took place during the 1990s and 2000s when the Czech National Ice Hockey Team won several international competitions, including the Winter Olympic Games and three World Championships. Below will be the motto: “Pride and honor is victory”.
The design is the work of painter Eva Hašková. The ice hockey player said that he liked the banknote and joked that it made him look younger.
