Czech government sending army planes to repatriate Czechs in Egypt, Jordan

The Czech government is planning to send one army plane to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt and one to Amman in Jordan to transport Czech citizens home following the outbreak of conflict in the region, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said after a meeting of the State Security Council on Monday. Mr. Babiš said if there was any free seats on the planes the Czechs would also take back citizens of Slovakia or other states.

Four planes from the airline Smartwings are being deployed to Oman to bring stranded Czechs home. Mr. Babiš said the airline was ready to run up to eight special flights a day if required.

Seventeen flights from Prague to destinations in the Middle East were cancelled on Monday morning.
