Czech government in discussions with Volkswagen regarding construction of battery factory
The Czech government is currently in the middle of negotiations with Volkswagen regarding the possibility of the company constructing a car battery plant in the Czech Republic, the daily Hospodářské noviny reported on Wednesday, quoting Industry and Trade Minister Karel Havlíček. The negotiations are connected to an earlier announced project by Czech energy giant ČEZ, which is considering the construction of a battery plant in Northern Bohemia. Mr. Havlíček said that he considers this a priority and one of the key possible future investments in the Czech Republic.
Volkswagen has announced plans to construct six battery production facilities in Europe by 2030.
