Czech government to discuss minimum wage hike and OECD bid

The Czech government will discuss a proposed hike in the minimum monthly wage at its session on Monday. The minimum wage is expected to rise by 2,500 crowns to 24,900 crowns from January and gradually reach 47 percent of the average wage by 2029.

The agenda also includes Czechia's bid to chair the OECD at ministerial level in 2027 and a proposal by the children's ombudsman to establish a permanent commission on sudden child deaths.

The government will also discuss changes to the SIGMA programme, increasing its budget for international research and innovation cooperation by 2.5 billion crowns to 4.6 billion.
