Czech foreign ministry advising caution in wake of terrorist threat in Vienna
The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Czech citizens in Austria to exercise increased caution, monitor local news reports and respect the instructions of security forces. The warning comes in response to the threat of a terrorist attack which on Wednesday led to the cancellation of three concerts in Vienna by American singer Taylor Swift. Despite heightened security measures, Austrian authorities say the security situation remains serious. Many Czech fans who had tickets to the cancelled concerts have scrapped their travel plans. The Foreign Ministry has urged those who are heading to Austria to register with the Drozd travel data base and, if in need of assistance, to contact the Czech embassy in Vienna.
