Czech foreign minister to meet German counterpart in Berlin on WWII anniversary

Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka will meet his German counterpart Johann Wadephul in Berlin on Friday, the Czech Foreign Ministry informed the Czech News Agency today. On the anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the minister will also lay flowers at the Plötzensee memorial, located at the site of the execution chamber where hundreds of Czechoslovaks were killed during the war.

Macinka and Wadephul will meet for the first time in a bilateral format on Friday. The Czech foreign minister has already visited Germany once since taking office: in February, he attended the Munich Security Conference.

The two foreign ministers will also sign a joint memorandum extending the activities of the Czech-German Future Fund until 2037.
