Czech foreign minister: Czechia and US aligned on key global issues
Czechia and the US share common views on the Middle East, Russian aggression, and China’s expansion, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský wrote on the X network after meeting with US Congressman Brian Mast in Washington on Thursday. Mr. Lipavský is attending the first Globsec transatlantic conference since President Donald Trump took office. Speaking there, he stressed that Europe and the US need strong allies and called for a tougher stance. He highlighted that Czechia spends 2% of GDP on defence and is ready to do more.
Another key focus of Mr. Lipavský’s visit is a meeting with US tech firms on AI chip exports. The US is tightening restrictions to keep advanced technology from Russia and China. Czechia facing tougher limits than some Western EU nations, is seeking an exemption. Lipavský aims to push both US officials and tech leaders on the issue.
