Czech foreign minister attending Bucharest Nine summit in Poland

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský is attending a summit of the Bucharest Nine group in Lodz, Poland. The groups’ foreign ministers are debating security issues and coordinating various forms of  assistance to Ukraine in defense against Russia. Among the issues discussed is NATO's expansion to Sweden and Finland.

The B-9 group was established in Bucharest in 2015 in response to security concerns stemming from Russia’s annexation of Crimea and comprises states from NATO’s eastern flank. They are Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania.
