Czech Footballers draw 0–0 with Croatia, losing hope for direct World Cup spot

The Czech national football team drew 0–0 with Croatia in Prague’s Eden Stadium on Thursday evening, dropping more points in World Cup qualifying. After the 1–5 defeat in June, the Czechs again failed to beat the group leaders and have almost no chance of qualifying directly.

Croatia stay top of the group with one match fewer played and a better goal difference. The Czechs, coached by Ivan Hašek, will finish their October games on Sunday against the Faroe Islands, who shocked Montenegro 4–0. Only group winners qualify directly, while second-placed teams head to the playoffs.
