Czech firefighters honored in Spain

Czech firefighters have received an award from Virginia Barcones, head of Spain’s civil protection authority, for their efforts in helping Spain battle wildfires. At Spain’s request, a specialized team of Czech firefighters and a helicopter crew were recently deployed in some of the hardest-hit regions in the country’s northwest. Spain has been ravaged by major wildfires since early August, particularly in Galicia, Castile and León. The Czech Republic joined reinforcements from other EU states including Germany, France, Italy and Finland.
