Czech film Charlatan makes Oscars shortlist

The Czech film Charlatan has been placed on a shortlist of 15 films in the running for Best International Film in this year’s Academy Awards. The film was directed by the great Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland and stars Ivan Trojan and his son Josf Trojan as Jan Mikolášek, a controversial healer in Communist Czech Czechoslovakia. It was written by Marek Epstein.

The final Oscar nominations will be announced in mid-March.
