Czech Expo pavilion may find new home in Hradec Králové after Osaka fair

The Czech pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka could be relocated to Hradec Králové after the world fair concludes. The mayor of the eastern Bohemian city, Pavlína Springerová, has expressed interest in preserving the structure, Expo commissioner Ondřej Soška revealed during Czech National Day celebrations.

According to Expo rules, the pavilion must be dismantled 81 days after the event ends and the site restored. The spiralling structure, designed by Apropos Architects, is made of cross-laminated timber and glass.

Due to construction changes, the project’s costs have climbed significantly. Originally budgeted at CZK 193 million, the pavilion alone will now exceed CZK 300 million. The government recently approved an additional CZK 120 million to cover the overruns.
