Czech experts involved in investigation into blackout in Spain and Portugal

Experts from Czechia are contributing to the investigation into the massive power outage that hit Spain and Portugal on April 28th. The findings should be available within a few months, said Martin Durčák, chairman of the board of directors of the energy company ČEPS, on the programme Václav Moravec’s Questions on Czech Television on Sunday.

According to Mr. Durčák, the expert commission will deal with the causes of the outage and the subsequent reaction, and the resulting report will be comprehensive. “It is a lesson for all of us, so that we know how to react, how to restore the network, and what role each source played or did not play,” he said. He also described Czechia’s own system as robust.
